Introduction

aoNES is a Nintendo Entertainment System emulator.
It is a port of LittleJohnGP written by yoyo for the GP32.
It supports .nes (roms) and .nsf (game music files), but not famicom disk system files (.fds)
Only works on Gmini400 with 2.1.xx firmwares and on Gmini402 and Gmini402cc with 1.3.11 firmware.

Usage

• D-Pad: Move.
• Square: A button.
• Cross: B button.
• On: Start button.
• F1: Open menu.
• F2: Select button.
• F3: Customizable button.
• Off: Go to browser.

General settings:

• Volume: adjusts the sound volume.
• Backlight strength: adjusts the strength of the lcd backlight.
• TV out:
  • Off: no TV out, display on LCD screen.
  • PAL: Output using PAL standard.
  • Stretched PAL: Vertically stretches the picture so it is fullscreen on a PAL TV.
  • NTSC: Output using NTSC standard.

Prefer NTSC over PAL, it has the right native resolution and refresh rate.

Buttons:

• Swap buttons: Swaps the two action buttons.
• Autofire:
  • Off: no autofire.
  • A Button: autofire for A button.
  • B Button: autofire for B button.
  • Both A and B: autofire for both buttons.
• F3 button use:
  • A+B: pressing F3 will simulate pressing both buttons at the same time.
  • Sticky A: pressing F3 once will set the A button as always pressed. Pressing it again will return to debault A button behavior.
  • Sticky B: pressing F3 once will set the B button as always pressed. Pressing it again will return to debault B button behavior.

Emulation options:

• Frameskip: number of frames to skip between two rendered frames, if set too low, the game will not run at full speed.
• CPU cycles / line: number of NES CPU cycles executed for every line drawn. Tweaking this can remove graphical glitches in some games. Default is 113.
• Sound filter:
  • Off: no sound filter.
  • Lowpass: strong lowpass filter.
  • Weighted lp.: lighter lowpass filter, gives the best sound.

Overclocking:

• Enable overclocking: enables Gmini CPU & DSP overclocking.
• CPU frequency: frequency of the ARM7 cpu. Default is 101Mhz.
• DSP frequency: frequency of the DSP. Default is 121Mhz.

To get full speed at frameskip 0 (i.e. 60fps) on Gmini400, you need to set CPU to 135Mhz and DSP to 148Mhz.

State saving:

• Slot: select which slot will be used to load / save the state
• Load state: loads the selected slot state
• Save state: saves the state to the selected slot
